FUNNY GIRL
Broadway Tunes was the winning bidder in a competitive process to acquire Bob Merrill’s songwriter and music publishing rights in the classic 1960s musical Funny Girl.
Since acquiring the works, the company’s marketing efforts have secured several new high profile synchronization licenses, including:
- The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel(Netflix) – “Don’t Rain on My Parade”
- Devil in Ohio(Netflix) – “Don’t Rain on My Parade”
- Barbra Streisand 60thAnniversary(Columbia Records) – “People”
- Scoop (Netflix)– “Don’t Rain on My Parade”
The company also commissioned the recording of a new version of “People” which is being used to showcase the song for music supervisors, film, TV and commercial directors, and others.

GIVING BACK
A PORTION OF THE PROFITS BROADWAY TUNES GENERATES EACH YEAR ARE DONATED TO SUPPORT MUSICAL THEATER.
Many artists and their families feel a sense of gratitude and connection to musical theater. Broadway Tunes offers them an avenue to give back to the Broadway community.
Donations made by Broadway Tunes can but do not have to be attributed to the name of the artist, their heirs or estate.
Importantly, the donations Broadway Tunes make do not have an impact on the amount artists, heirs or estates receive in consideration for their rights.
PHILANTHROPY
The latest Broadway Tunes/DGF event featured the widely-acclaimed composer, lyricist and creator of Wicked, Godspell and Pippin, Stephen Schwartz, along with Broadway actor Michael McCorry Rose.
THE DRAMATISTS GUILD FOUNDATION
Since 2023, Broadway Tunes has been proud to support the Dramatists Guild Foundation (www.dgf.org) in its efforts to fuel the future of American theater by supporting the writers who create it.
In addition to making donations to the organization, Broadway Tunes also worked with DGF to launch a series of west coast salons as part of an effort to broaden awareness of the organization’s efforts on behalf of musical writers.
NEW DRAMATISTS
Broadway Tunes is also a proud supporter of New Dramatists (www.newdramatists.org) in its efforts to provide playwrights with time, space and resources to create work in the company of gifted peers, realize their artistic potential, and make lasting contributions to the theater.

- Experience in music publishing and musical theatre dating back to 1995, including senior roles at Paramount Pictures, Famous Music, Bug Music and Broadway Across America.
- Successfully completed more than $350 million in music related transactions to date.
JOHN MASSA
- Co-owner
- President and CEO of Music & Media International, an independent music publishing company he co-founded in 1997.
- With approximately 7,500 copyrights under management, MMI represents some of the greatest songwriters and music entrepreneurs in the history of popular music.
SHELDON STONE
- Co-owner
- Co-founded Oaktree Capital Management, an international investment management firm, where he serves as a portfolio manager and member of the board.
- Avid theatregoer since childhood and investor in shows including: The Book of Mormon, Close to You, showcasing the Burt Bacharach catalogue, and Ain't Too Proud, the Temptations musical.
